Two Refreshing Ideas
On compulsion and curiosity
———
Compulsion Kills. Confusion, frustration, and depression plague the compelled. They learn what the scholars deem important, they eat what the doctors believe healthy, and they live a life their friends expect. They, however, are never satisfied because they never answer their own questions, pursue their own desires, or live their own life. Compulsion never gives birth to fulfillment.
Curiosity Is the Best Teacher. No school, human instructor, or curriculum could ever be as effective as one’s own interest and intuition. There is no limit to what a student can learn and remember when he abandons academic standards, traditions, and the status quo. The freely curious mind is an infinite sponge.
